What Do Patients Want from a Diagnosis?

In February I asked for your thoughts and experiences regarding your TMJ disorder diagnosis. On March 30th I incorporated your feedback into my presentation, What Do Patients Want from a Diagnosis? This was given at the International Consensus Workshop: Convergence on an Orofacial Pain Taxonomy, in Miami, FL. I was honored to have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of TMJD patients and would like to thank everyone who responded to my request for a patient's perspective on the diagnostics of TMJ disorders. Your time and efforts were greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Terrie Cowley

Let Your Voice Be Heard
National Pain Care Policy Act of 2009

In March, we asked you to contact your state and locally elected officials regarding the National Pain Care Policy Act of 2009. We feel strongly that this bill, which would make pain care and pain management a public health priority, will benefit every American, especially those who suffer chronic pain. We are happy to report this important piece of legislation has been passed by the House of Representatives. Thank you for letting our voices be heard!

This is good news but we're only part-way there.  The same bill has already been introduced into the Senate, and now Senators are needed as co-sponsors. Please take a few moments to click on the American Pain Foundation's link and urge your Senator to co-sponsor the National Pain Care Policy Act of 2009.

N
IH defined fifteen broad challenge areas, and the NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices identified specific topics within those areas that address their missions. TMJDs are included in this listing.
